Wu Shu (Chinese: "Martial Skills") is a term used for the hundreds of martial art/sport styles of Mainland China ranging from Chin Na to the multiple styles of the Shao Lin.
As a modern sport, Wushu, also known as modern wushu or contemporary wushu, is also both an exhibition and a full-contact sport derived from traditional Chinese martial arts. It was created in China after 1949, in an attempt to nationalize the practice of traditional Chinese martial arts.
